French press ratios 1:14–1:16 — enter coffee grams to get water grams, with a coarse-grind brew guide.
| Input | Result |
|---|---|
| 30 g at 1:15 | 450 g water (3-cup press) |
| 55 g at 1:15 | 825 g water (8-cup press) |
| 17 g at 1:14 | 238 g water (single mug) |
1:15 is the balanced default (30 g coffee : 450 g water). Go 1:14 for a heavier cup, 1:16 for lighter. Coarse grind, 4 minutes, then plunge slowly.
An '8-cup' press is about 1 L — use 55–66 g of coffee at 1:15–1:16.
Full immersion brews extract less efficiently than flowing pour over, and the metal filter lets fine oils through — slightly tighter ratios (1:14–1:15) give body without sourness.
